After DC’s impressive afternoon on the Hall H stage, it’s Marvel’s turn to take the reins. First up was Black Panther director, Ryan Coogler who had plenty of tidbits to reveal.
It was revealed that production on the characters solo outing will begin in January, with Chadwick Boseman reprising his role as T’Challa, better known as the Black Panther. Also present on the stage was Lupita Nyong’o who was confirmed to be playing Nakia, They were then joined by Coogler’s Creed star and former Human Torch Michael B Jordan who was revealed to be playing the villainous Erik Killmonger. While these two have previously been confirmed, the announcement that The Walking Dead actress, Danai Gurira will be joining the film as Okoye. In the comics, both Okoye and Nakia are members of the Dora Milaje, T’Challas deadly bodyguards.
Unfortunately, we weren’t treated to anymore information, but it was good to hear just how enthusiastic the cast and crew are about the project.
Black Panther is due to hit theaters February 16th, 2018.
