Fans of the cancelled cult show Firefly may finally have got there wish as a recent announcement has revealed we may be preparing to take yet another journey back to the ‘verse although, not in the way that fans have hoped.
That’s right. Mal and Co will be making there grand return in a new comic series. The announcement came via Dark Horse Comics, the company responsible for previous Firefly/Serenity comic adaptions Serenity: Better Days and Serenity: Leaves on the wind. The latest story will titled Serenity: No Power in the ‘Verse and is set to hit shelves October 26th.
Entertainment Weekly spoke to the comics writer, Chris Robertson who explained:
“The characters have been busy [since the last comic]…They’re just wrapping up a job when they get a call from an old friend who is in desperate need of their help, and things get complicated pretty quickly.”
In regards to story Robertson then went on to reveal:
“River plays a pretty central role in this story, in more ways than one’ before adding ‘She’s really come into her own as the pilot of Serenity, for one thing, but now that Zoe’s daughter Emma is toddling around on her own by this point, River is always on hand to help look after her as well. But the Alliance is still hunting for River, which is going to put the rest of the crew in the crosshairs.”
It’s always good to see that the story of Serenity’s crew is continuing, especially given the loyal and dedicated ‘Browncoat’ fanbase. Let’s just hope that if they do ever bring it back as live-action, they don’t leave it too late.
What do you think? Will you be picking this up? Do you think we’ll ever see the crew on screen again? Let us know below!
