You may have heard recently that Steve Rogers, better known as Captain America was set to join Superman, Rocky Balboa and errr…….Robocop as fictional Americans immortalized as a statue. Now, as part of this week’s Comic Con festivities down in San Diego, we have our first look at the Beauty.
The impressive statue has been created as a partnership between Marvel and Comicave Studios and will be on display at the Marvel Booth #2329 this weekend. There will also be a limited edition comic book on hand which integrates the statue into the comic universe. After its debut this weekend the statue will then move on too Rogers’ home turf of Brooklyn for a fortnight where it will take pride and place in the children’s corner of Prospect Park. Whilst there it will see an unveiling ceremony August 10th before an evening screening of the characters latest motion picture Captain America: Civil War.
Speaking of the event, borough president Adams said:
“To the rest of America and the world, he’s Captain America; to us, he’ll always be Steve Rogers, ‘Just a kid from Brooklyn,’ before adding ‘Brooklyn is proud to be the base of celebrations for Cap’s 75th anniversary, which will be capped by a larger-than-life statue travelling around our borough – befitting of this larger-than-life character. Prospect Park is the place to this summer to enjoy the Captain America!”
For those of you lucky enough to be at Comic Con this weekend, you can take away your own 1/12th scale statue for when you need that extra bit of patriotism.
What do you think? Do you think the statue is a good idea? Will you be checking it out? Let us know below!
