It’s rare in this day and age for a comic book film to be released in theaters without secret details being released. Often times this comes from either set leaks or in some cases, from the films marketing itself (I’m looking at you Doomsday reveal). It looked as though next months Suicide Squad may have been the exception to this rule with the films primary villain currently unknown, at least until today that is. Read on to find out more.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com’s Lucas Siegel, the films producer Richard Suckle dropped some interesting hints about the films big bad, including his name – The Adversary. While this name doesn’t seem to relate to any major DC villain, Suckle did go on to reveal some details on the characters role in the story revealing:
“Oh, you will find out who the adversary is, that is for sure. You will find out not only who the Adversary is but why they exist, who is part and parcel and who is behind them. You will definitely find that out in this movie for sure.”
But where does this leave The Joker, who has dominated so much of this films marketing. Producer Andy Horowitz explains:
‘There’s multiple adversaries that the Squad has to contend with over the course of the movie of which the Joker is one of them.”
Is he merely a second tier villain? Or are they pulling the old switcheroo on us?
It also looks as though the team will face Cara Delivigne’s Enchantress at some point in the film, as well as the footsoldiers known as the ‘Eyes of the Adversary who have been giving the team a hard time in the films trailers.
We’ll find out more about The Adversary when Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5th.
