One of the most reassuring aspects of comic books are that thankfully we’ll never see anybody nearly as diabolical as the villains featured in real life, at least that’s what we thought. Now Marvel has revealed that one of it’s classic villains is getting an all too familiar redesign.
The character set to receive the redesign is longtime Captain America foe, Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing or M.O.D.O.K as he prefers to be called. The character will debut on the pages of Spider-Gwen Annual #1, but a preview for the issue has been released, giving us our first look at the villain and if he looks at all familiar to you, it’s probably because you’ve seen him everyday on television for the last year. That’s right, the characters new look seems to be very much inspired by Republican Presidential Nominee, Donald Trump, right down to the ridiculously small hands and orange tinted skin:
It should be noted of course that this story doesn’t take place in the mainstream Marvel 616 universe, but rather Earth-65, the alternate universe where it was Gwen Stacy and not Peter Parker who was bitten by the radioactive spider hence why this new version of the character is actually known as The Mental Organism Designed As America’s King, or M.O.D.A.A.K. which somehow seems very fitting for Trump. What’s funny is that a lot of the characters villainous dialogue seems to be almost lifted straight from Trumps actual speeches, which is quite worrying when you think about it spouting such phrases as ‘Make America Great Again,’ and ‘If America
The issue itself, see’s that universes Captain America, Samantha Wilson teaming up with Spider-Gwen to battle the villainous Trump, sorry M.O.D.A.A.K. on the Mexico/US Border. As parody goes, this one is pretty thinly veiled.
Spider-Gwen Annual #1 is written by Jason Latour, with Chris Visions and Jim Campbell illustrating and on sale now.
