Remember how some people were freaking out that it meant Ghost Rider would be making his MCU debut on Agents of Shield, while naysayers argued that it was just a promos for Hellfire, who was already on last season? Ok, I guess I was one of those naysayers.
Well, those wishful thinkers might be more right than we imagined. TVLine has reported some casting announcements for Season Four of Agents of SHIELD.
“A pair of Latino brothers, one of whom is always the most dangerous person in the room, the other paralyzed in a wheelchair.”
Cry click bait all you want, but while this doesn’t confirm Johnny Blaze, the Spirit of Vengeance host in the Nic Cage-starring films, it does suggest another host. In a recent run, that exists in the post-Secret Wars, “All New, All Different” Marvel Universe, the Spirit finds its way to Robbie Reyes.
According to Comic Vine, “Angry, impetuous, quiet, pragmatic, but above all else… an older brother. At the age of eighteen Robbie Reyes is the sole caretaker of his disabled little brother, Gabe. Balancing school, homework, a part-time job at Canelo’s Auto & Body, overall care of his little brother, and a infamous low-key street racing gig, Robbie’s day to day schedule is always hectic and unforgiving.”
If you’re holding out for a grittier version, possibly still in the form of Johnny Blaze, on Netflix, keep a few things in mind.
- Agents of SHIELD has been pushed back an hour, allowing for edgier subject matter.
- This is just the debut of Ghost Rider, which would surely open up for more appearances in the MCU.
- There are still those rumors of GR joining the Netflix family, which may be ushered in with Mephisto.
