As far as the TV side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there have been many rumors, but nothing is too certain on what will happen. With the movies, the schedule has been mapped out until 2019, and three more movies are slated for 2020.We barely know what’s going on next year in the TV world. We know that Agents of SHIELD will have another season. And we know that Luke Cage and Iron Fist will grace our Netflix queues, which will culminate, with our friends Daredevil and Jessica Jones, into The Defenders.
Ghost Rider rumors have been flying for both the ABC and Netflix sides of the MCU. Promos and casting announcements have pointed to his debut on Agents of SHIELD. Meanwhile, his antagonist, Mephisto, is whispered to go up against The Defenders.
Those Mephisto rumors are said to set up the next phase of Netflix shows, which would dive into the supernatural realm that this year’s Doctor Strange will start to explore. Among those shows include Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, and Blade.
Our source had further information to supply on that front:
“Marvel is considering a Blade series down the line – but is still unsure about re-casting the role or bringing back Wesley Snipes.”
Snipes has expressed his interest in returning to his most famous role. He has also said that he’s had some talks with Marvel. If he were to return, then surely all the canon from his three films would as well. That means Kris Kristofferson, Donal Logue (Gotham), and Ryan Reynolds, would all be annexed into the MCU. Villains such as Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) and Dracula (Dominic Purcell, who is currently on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) would have existed in the MCU at one time.
However, if a new Blade was cast, who would take Snipes’s place? Remember that show, which recast the vampire hunter to rapper, Sticky Fingaz (from old school group, Onyx)? I must note that the show set up a potential Moon Knight spin-off. I’m sure if Snipes wasn’t asked back, Kirk “Sticky” Jones wouldn’t be either. Somewhere on the internet, I heard that Michael B. Jordan (Creed……lets just forget about his other Marvel role) was interested in taking on the part.
It looks like the ABC side of the TV realm is shutting down. Agent Carter was canceled. And Marvel’s Most Wanted wasn’t picked up. Not to mention, there really hasn’t been any more words on Damage Control. If Ghost Rider does debut on Agents of SHIELD, hopefully he’ll make his way to the ever-striving Netflix side.
And if these rumors of Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Blade, and Mephisto turn out to be true, then be sure to pay your light bill, so you don’t have to watch these in the dark.
