When it comes to comic book costumes, the MCU know how create a look that is both wholly recognizable but at the same time practical. However there is one character with which they often seem to miss the mark and that is Jeremy Renner’s master archer, Hawkeye. But now thanks to some recently released concept art, we can see just what the character could look like.
While the character early version of the costume in The Avengers clearly takes inspiration from the pages of Ultimate Hawkeye, many fans were disappointed that it didn’t borrow more from the mainstream 616 incarnation, most notably the mask and purple colour scheme. While the costume has undergone several transitions over the course of the films, a tunic-like overcoat in Avengers: Age of Ultron and added purple elements to a more tactical look in Captain America: Civil War, it still hasn’t replicated his classic look.
Now thanks to graphic designer Andy Park we get a glimpse at what could have been with two pieces of concept art for the character from Captain America: Civil War. Whilst this concept art has previously been released , this is the first time it’s been seen in high quality without a watermark.

As as you can see, it’s still not his initial look but it does incorporate a mask although it is clearly influenced by the one he adopted during his time on the Ultimates. With the character now on the run as a result of Captain America: Civil War, perhaps we may see Barton don the mask in his next appearance.
What do you think? Do you prefer either of these looks? Are you happy with his outfit? Let us know below!
