This new promo for Agents of SHIELD is making people think that Ghost Rider will be making an appearance on the show when it returns for its fourth season. If this were so, this could quite possibly connect the ABC drama with the Netflix realm of the MCU. Ghost Rider is rumored to have a show in the streaming service’s phase two of shows. There is also that rumor we reported on that Mephisto will be who The Defenders will team-up against, setting up the supernatural world that Ghost Rider, and other considered shows, like Moon Knight and Blade, would live in.
Folks are also quick to point out Hellfire, an Inhuman that was part of Hive’s arsenal in this last season. In the comics, the guy is blood-related to Ghost Rider is some sort.
Call me naïve, though, but when he was introduced, as an Aussie named James, who’s Inuhman powers hadn’t awakened yet, I honestly thought that this was the MCU’s way of getting around Wolverine.
Anyway, this fire-powered baddie uses chains for a weapon, just like Ghost Rider, and just like the graphics used for this train decal. He was also a member of the Secret Warriors, whom also made their live-action debut this last season.
I would love to see a second chance at Ghost Rider. Lynch me, but I was never really a fan of Nic Cage. So another stab at the anti-hero would be nice; whether he’ll show up on Agents of SHIELD, or a Netflix show.
Though, if you want my speculation on this, I would say that this is a teaser for Hellfire’s return, possibly a bump to the prime antagonist. Or perhaps, he’ll will join Syke….Daisy…..Quake…..whatever you wanna call her, with whatever she’s doing after her twist in the season finale. The Secret Warriors may have been disbanded, but maybe they’ll reincarnate for another go ’round.
But if Ghost Rider does show up, is there a good chance that Norman Reedus will play him?
