Of all of Marvel’s hugely successful film and television properties, few have been more well received that Netflix’s Daredevil series. Season one was embraced by fans of blind lawyer Matt Murdock and his superhero alter ego, the savior of Hell’s Kitchen. Then season two took it to a whole different level with the inclusion of Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. The show’s gritty realism and great performances have been universally praised.
So with season three being such a highly anticipated property, you would think the suits in charge would be scrambling to start production. However, a third season hasn’t even been announced, let alone gotten close to filming. What gives?
As it turns out, Netflix’s plate is loaded. With Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist heading to the small screen, and The Defenders planned to bring them all together afterwards, it doesn’t look like there is room any time soon for The Man Without Fear on Marvel’s two-series-a-year slate.
So what will become of the hugely popular character? The man behind the mask, actor Charlie Cox, has his own ideas about that:
“I’d love to see Daredevil back on the big screen again. I really don’t know whether Marvel Studios and Marvel TV – whether that crossover could happen.”
DD is technically a part of the MCU, and fans have been vocal in their support of the street-level heroes being incorporated into the film universe, hopefully in time for the Infinity War films.
What do you hope to see for the future of this character? Do you think he has a place in the cinematic universe? Tell us your opinions!
