Brock Lesnar has not been seen in the WWE since Wrestlemania 32 where he beat Dean Ambrose in a No Holds Barred match. Lesnar is set to return to WWE in time for Summerslam however he will have a bigger engagement first.
According to the man himself, Lesnar will be making his return to UFC at UFC 200 in July. Who his opponent will be is still unknown at this time but the match is sure to be a high profile one. It is also unclear if this signals a return to UFC as Lesnar is still contracted by WWE for the next three years and the company prefers their employees to stick to just WWE. However, the company has granted Lesnar compete in a one off event and returning to WWE at Summerslam.
While the news is definitely a bit shocking, Lesnar actually talked about making a return to the octagon when he sat down with Steve Austin for his podcast:
“It wasn’t a bluff,” Lesnar told Austin. “I felt robbed by diverticulitis. I felt robbed by being sick. I was feeling good and it took me a couple years to start feeling good. I’m at home, I’m working out, my life is great, everything’s in tune, my contract’s coming to an end with WWE, hey it’s been a great time but something’s missing.”
He added:
“I was up front and totally honest with the company and told them I’m really thinking of pursuing getting back in the Octagon.”
