So wait, what? There was a rumor that the next Arrowverse crossover is going to be a musical. Where was I? I suppose this probably comes from the news that Supergirl will join her fellow DC-ites on the CW this fall. Therefore, there will now be four shows to team-up at the mid-season. (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. That’s not including if they want to throw Vixen or Constantine in there.). Both Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin shared the screen before this year’s Supergirl/Flash crossover. Not only do we have Glee alums, but also Jesse Martin, who plays Joe West on The Flash, was in a popular musical called Rent. You can see him put those vocal chords to use when Flash visited Earth-2 and met Joe’s doppelganger, who was a lounge singer instead of a cop. So, it might be a big stretch, but I can see where someone came up with this idea.
Before I go on to what was said about this rumor, lets stop groaning for a second, and think about this. We could hear their rendition of the Flash Gordon theme by Queen. I know, it’s about Flash Gordon, not to be confused with The Flash. But come on, I can hear it now, “Flash, ah ah. Gonna save every one of us.” Or, how about Thomas Dolby’s “She Blinded Me With Science.” They could even do an original tune called “You Have Failed This City.” Ok, I’m done messing around now.
So, while talking about his newest movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, MTVNews asked Arrow star, Stephen Amell, about this:
“No. I’m out! I’m the first one. I get to draw the line, and I draw the line at musical.”
Amell also spoke on the ever-growing Arrowverse:
“Arrow was set up as a very specific thing, and it’s up to us to do what we do. And what we do, we do better than anyone else on TV.’ Part of the price of success is that we’ve had to introduce other shows. We can always get around new powers and people from other planets, but it is important that when all that dust settles that we are focusing on what we do well.”
