“I was rooting for Batman,” said Frank Miller when asked his opinions on this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The film borrows material from two notable stories of each of the title heroes: Death of Superman and The Dark Knight Returns. The latter was written by Miller, and gave an interesting take on Bats; most notably, his age. Most Batman stories place him at the start of his career, usually borrowing from Miller’s other story, Batman: Year One. The Dark Knight Returns calls for an older, seasoned Bruce Wayne. And the newest actor to put on the cowl, squeezed into that role quite well.
“He’s a good actor. I mean, he’s obviously very, very close to this material and plays it with great affection,” Miller continued to praise Ben Affleck’s treatment.
The writer/artist, who’s also done work for the other superhero Affleck played, was at MegaCon in Orlando, Florida, at the time of these statements. Miller shared a Q&A panel with Brian Azzarello, who also wrote some stuff for DC, like a Joker title.
Check out Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice The Ultimate Edition, which is the reported 3 hour R-rated cut, and puts scrapped characters back in, like Jena Malone’s Barbara Gordon.
