What does it take for a person to snap? How much despair for a mind to fracture? These are the twisted questions that The Joker has set out to answer, to show Gotham that even an ordinary man like Commissioner Gordon is only one bad day away from sheer insanity. Based on the acclaimed DC Comics graphic novel, witness a journey into the dark psyche of the Clown Prince of Crime. Follow his humble beginnings as a struggling comic to his fateful encounter with the Dark Knight that changed everything. Fueled by the return of Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as The Joker, witness the birth of a super villain, the fortitude of a hero and the punch line that will leave you speechless.
Based on Alan Moore’s Classic story, The Killing Joke sees The Joker at his most dangerous in his attempt to prove that One Bad day is all that separates the good from the bad. His plan to break Comissioner Gordon led to one of comics most controversial scenes, the shooting and torture of Barbara Gordon AKA Batgirl, which led to character becoming the Paralysed hero Oracle. In the comic, this was Barabara’s only role in the story however the film is looking to make up for this by including new scenes of the character in her Batgirl persona before her encounter with The Joker. With the film receiving the R-rating fans were clamouring for, we can expect these scenes to be particularly graphic.
Batman: The Killing Joke is set to premiere at this years Comic Con before being released on home media August 2nd. The film, directed by Jay Oliva will see the return of Batman: The Animated Series actors Kevin Conroy as Batman, Mark Hamill as The Joker and Tara Strong as Batgirl.
