When the first trailer for Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbuster’s reboot was released it was met with a ‘less than stellar’ response from the Internet. It looks like the studio has taken that response to heart as the film’s latest trailer appears to give us a much better look at the film’s plot and style of humor.
Whilst a lot of the humor seen in the first trailer didn’t seem to hit the right note, the jokes featured in this new trailer certainly seem to be a lot more polished. It also appears to use a lot more callbacks to the original film, giving us a glimpse of classic icons Slimer and The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. It even seems to use a lot more traditional variation of the classic Ray Parker Jr. theme.
The trailer also gives us a better idea of the film’s plot, confirming that Chris Hemsworth’s character Kevin will be Possessed by the ghost we saw possessing Melissa McCarthy’s character Abby possibly becoming the film’s antagonist. We also get a good look at the assortment of Spook’s who will be terrorizing New York and generally causing problems for our titular team:
As previously stated, the first trailer was met with negative reaction with the official video becoming the most disliked trailer in YouTube history. Hopefully this will manage to change the minds of the film’s haters or ‘assholes‘ as Paul Feig refers to them. Time will tell. You can check out the film when it hits theaters July 15th.
