Karl Urban, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, and Tessa Thompson have been officially announced as part of the Thor: Ragnarok cast.
Urban and Blanchett will join Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in Asgardian villainhood. Urban will portray Skurge the Executioner, while Blanchett will bring underworld goddess Hela to life.
Goldblum’s character is the eccentric Grandmaster, and Thompson will be the legendary warrior Valkyrie.
“The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with these additions to the cast, we have the makings of the most dangerous and heroic adventure yet,” says producer Kevin Feige. The sheer raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor. Having all of them is incredible.”
Reprising their previous roles are Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Sir Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Idris Elba (Heimdall), and Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner / The Hulk).
Ragnarok, the story of the Asgardian apocalypse, is the third solo Thor film. Directed by Oscar nominee Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige, it will land in cinemas worldwide on July 28, 2017.
