Put down your keyboards, conspiracy theorists, because some promo work that’s just been released online for ‘Rogue One’ has put some of your ideas to bed.
The forthcoming release ‘Rogue One: A Visual Story Guide’ has been previewed online, and it’s unveiled a great deal more information about some of the main players and vehicles that are going to be involved in December’s Star Wars heist flick.
Firstly, a number of the more outlandish theories about the film have been blown out of the water.
There was some speculation that Ben Mendelssohn might be playing a new version of either Moff Tarkin, or even Grand Admiral Thrawn, but the book states he is instead playing ‘Director Krennic’. This is another new character to the franchise, who is billed as the Empire’s ‘Military Director’.
It had also been thrown out there that Diego Luna could have been playing Biggs Darklighter, due to his uncanny resemblance to Luke’s Childhood friend. Sorry, folks. According to the companion he’s playing a rebel officer called Cassian Andor.
It’s common knowledge that Alan Tudyk would be playing a fully CGI role, but he was notably absent from last month’s trailer. Well, he’ll be playing a droid called K-250. Apparently this is an Imperial Enforcer model, who in this case has defected to the Rebellion.
There are some drawings of some other CGI characters, including two rebel fighters named Bistan and Pao, to supplement the existing ones, and bring the film closer to the expected ‘Dirty Dozen’ format.
If you’re into the starships of the franchise, then you’re also in luck, as two early incarnations of two fan favorites are on display. The ‘TIE Striker’ would appear to be an early version of everybody’s most treasurer Imperial starfighter, and the rebel forerunner of the X-Wing is also on show.
There’s also rather a lot of shots of a certain Sith Lord overseeing proceedings, but no trace of Boba Fett, who had been rumored to be showing up at some stage.
