When Willem Dafoe was cast in next year’s Justice League, the following news I expected to hear was that Sam Raimi was a producer or something. J.K. Simmons, who played J. Jonah Jameson in Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, was previously announced as Commissioner Gordon. It is also rumored that Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus), will play Dr. T.O. Morrow, the scientist who created Red Tornado, in the Ezra Miller-starring Flash.
Soon, fancasts were thrown out, as to who the former Green Goblin was going to play. The only clue given was that he’ll be a “good guy.” Dr. Fate was a favorite of mine. Other fancasts included Martian Manhunter, and even Green Lantern.
Well, it looks like we’re closer to knowing which “good guy” he’ll be. BirthMoviesDeath seems to think he’ll be an Atlantean. The report says:
“According to my sources Willem Dafoe is playing an Atlantean. That’s all I got for you. Start your speculation machines on which Atlantean he could be, although keep in mind that initial reports have him as a ‘good guy’.”
If he is an Atlantean, then that should mean that he’ll be in Jason Mamoa’s solo Aquaman movie in 2018. And if he’s a “good guy,” then there isn’t many Atlantean’s who fit that moniker. Aquaman’s taken; and I’m sure he isn’t Aqualad. But, notice how “good guy” is in quotes.
But this is still a rumor, that is according to BirthMoviesDeath’s “sources.” So, we’ll see how that pans out. I guess we’ll know for sure when Justice League Part One gets here November 17th, 2017.
