It looks like Supergirl has been renewed for a second season – but not with CBS. The show will head over to The CW and join shows like The Flash and Arrow, a move that was somewhat expected. Here’s what CBS Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler had to say about the move:
“For our network right now, what we did respond to was the character’s humanity, the other characters in the show as well – the story trajectory and the character’s arc and growth. These are all things that made her just imminently relatable, and made the story exciting.”
The show’s budget will likely be impacted, with EW reporting that the pilot for Supergirl cost $14 million to make and around $3 million per episode to produce.
Personally, I think this is the right move as the show never really fit with CBS and should have been on The CW from the start. The show will fit in a lot better with the network.
