Ben Affleck has certainly made his mark on DC’s film universe. His portrayal of Batman has been universally praised as the best part of Dawn of Justice, he’s been given a solo Bats film, which he will direct, and will play a significant role in the Justice League films.
He can now add another title to his extensive resume, as he has been tapped as an executive producer for Justice League as well. He has previously produced several films, most famously Argo, which he also starred in and directed. The film won the Oscar for best picture in 2012. His directing credits are also impressive, including Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and the aforementioned Argo.
With these recent moves by Warner Bros, it shows a growing confidence in his filmmaking abilities. It may also speak to a waning support for Zack Snyder, because Affleck will have much more creative control than if he was just starring in the films. Perhaps Warner wants his behind the scenes skills to help support Snyder’s direction.
