George Miller, the writer/director behind every single Mad Max movie, including last year’s Fury Road, is now rumored to direct Green Lantern Corps. As the director of the failed Justice League Mortal, and a producer on the Justice League movie that will actually see the light of the silver screen, this comes as little surprise. But keep in mind, this is just a rumor, as reported by comicbook.com.
There’s been plenty of tidbits on the second Green Lantern movie (the first in the DCEU) as of late. Not to mention, plenty of tidbits for the other movies on the DCEU slate. Most recently, we learned that three of the GL’s of the Corps will be Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner. There’s also reports that the casting call for Jordan is to be around the same age as Matt Damon, who’s 46. Though, I wouldn’t be surprised if Damon himself was eventually cast, seeing how his hetero-life-mate is already a member of the Justice League.
With Justice League, Green Lantern Corps, and the announced Mad Mad: The Wasteland, Miller will have his hands full in the latter half of this decade. The Wasteland doesn’t have a release date just yet, but it’s reported to return Miller to the pilot seat, with Tom Hardy reprising the role of The Feral Kid…..I mean Max Rockatansky. And if Miller can create a world as visually stunning as Mad Max, I’m certain he would do wonders to the Lantern-policed sea of space.
Green Lantern Corps is set make its landing on June 19th, 2020. GL probably won’t make an appearance in Justice League Part One, but hopefully we’ll see one of them in Part Two, which will be June 14th, 2019.
