With the release of Captain America: Civil War just a couple of weeks away, many have been speculating on the new direction of the Spider-Man franchise. With recent news of the title being announced and rumors that the Vulture maybe the big bad, we now have news that Michael Keaton maybe making his return to the Superhero genre as the lead villain. Marvel and Sony have yet to comment on the casting however it’ll be an interesting move which will see Michael Keaton straight back into the mainstream after a string of notable performances in the award winning Birdman and Spotlight. Rumor also has it that Homecoming will focus more on Spider-Man’s future than re-treading the origin story which we’ve already been put through twice already.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be directed by Jon Watts with John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein on scriptwriting duties. With a release date set for July 7th 2017, fans will not have to wait long for the web crawlers next solo outing.
