When the news last February that a deal between Marvel and Sony had been reached and we would finally be seeing Spidey in the MCU, many fans hoped a similar deal could be struck between Marvel and Fox, the studio behind the X-Men franchise finally letting us see Xavier’s finest fighting side by side with Earth’s mightiest. It sounds as though they are not alone, as an important producer at Fox has shown his support for the idea.
While at a recent event for the home media release of Fox’s latest cinematic entry, Deadpool, the Crave spoke with the films director Tim Miller about the possibility of the two universes coexisting to which the director enthusiastically responded:
“I would love to, someday, in part heal the rift between the world of X-Men and the world of Avengers.”
But it wasn’t just Miller who supported the idea, the franchises longstanding producer, Simon Kinberg also revealed:
‘I think we all would, yeah,’ Before adding. ‘There’s so much crossover in the comics, it would be neat to one day see those characters share a movie. It would be fun to all team-up one day, somehow, together if that could work.’
It should be noted that that both Kinberg and Miller have strong ties to Disney and Marvel, with Miller’s Blur Studio creating effects for several of the Marvel films while Kinberg has worked closely with Lucasfilm on the Star Wars franchise. Perhaps these connections can get the ball rolling on the crossover, Avengers Vs. X-Men maybe?
