Since it was first announced, fans have been eagerly anticipating the Avengers style team-up event which will see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist join forces to take a greater foe. Luckily it sounds as though we won’t have much longer to wait before we see The Defenders on our screens sooner than we thought.
Daredevil star Charlie Cox was on hand at a recent Netflix event in Paris, in which he revealed to the crowd ‘What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome”. However, he did go on to explain that he doesn’t have much information about the series, telling the crowd ‘I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.’
While this is undoubtedly good news for the team-up series, where does that leave The Man without Fear’s third solo season? The Boardwalk Empire actor explained ‘We don’t know if there’s going to be a season three,’ before adding ‘I certainly don’t know’. Cox also commented on whether we can expect to see any resolution to Season Two’s ending, revealing ‘In terms of wrapping up any storylines, maybe they’ll do some of that in The Defenders. Or maybe they won’t.’
We still have Luke Cage and Iron Fist with a possible Season Two of Jessica Jones between now and the release of The Defenders. So we can possibly expect to hit our screens sometime next year.
