This last weekend saw of a lot of set photos from the recently wrapped Doctor Strange film and while the majority have featured Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor in costume as the good doctor and Baron Mordo respectively, we were also given our first look at Mads Miklesen’s mysterious villain.
The photos from the New York set have been uploaded to various pages on Twitter giving us our first look at the Hannibal actor in costume. It still doesn’t give us much of an idea as to who he is playing but fans have speculated that the burning around the eyes is in fact related to the mystical being, Dormmamu, with him perhaps using Mikklesen and his followers as a conduit.

Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Fiege had previously described Mikklesen’s character as ‘a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect,’ before adding ‘[He] believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base and that the world may be better off if we were to allow some of these other things through [to his dimension].’
We’ll likely find out more about the character in the months leading up to the films release on November 4th.
