One of the most popular characters to grace the Marvel Cinematic Universe is definitely Loki, the trickster brother of Thor, played by the ever so charismatic Tom Hiddleston. But could we be seeing the end of the character? If recent comments from the actor are any indication, the answer may just be yes.
Speaking to The Daily Beast, the Crimson Peak actor revealed that the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok may in fact be his final appearance as the character. He told the site:
‘Thor 3 will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years,” before adding ‘I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate.”
But before the Fan-girls start sharpening their pitchforks and creating their tumblr posts, it should be noted that this may not be fully set in stone as they actor also goes on to admit:
‘I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know, They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.’
When it comes to the MCU plans are likely to be ever changing so it’s entirely possible that we will be seeing the mischievous character again given the characters importance in the Thor mythos. It’s also likely they would like to keep the character around even if it’s not Hiddleston who is donning the horns, the comics did see the character become a female for a brief period of time so that’s always a possibility.
You can catch the actors (possible) Swan Song when Thor: Ragnarok is released November 2017.
