Obvious spoilers follow.
It’s already been confirmed the home media release of Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice would feature an extra thirty minutes of footage but today we’ve been given our first taste as to what they may entail. Naturally, spoilers will follow.
The deleted scene, dubbed ‘communion’ shows us what happened in the moments leading up to the arrest of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and also gives us a bit more insight into his deranged rambling at the end of the film. You can check out the scene below.
Many fans have speculated this to be Steppenwolf, one of the New Gods and leader of Darkseid’s military appearing either as a construct from the kryptonion archive or even in person to warn of his masters impending arrival. It has also been speculated that items in his possession are Mother Boxes, sentient computers used by Darkseid and his followers and also the cause of Victor Stones transformation into Cyborg.
It certainly feels like this scene would have added more to the films mythos as well as setting up the upcoming Justice League: Part One. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more scenes like this when the extended cut is released later in the year.
