With characters such as Daredevil, the Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist being brought to life successfully on the small screen through Marvel’s partnership with Netflix, it’s hard not to wonder who’s next in line.
Jeremy Renner seems to be hoping it will be his character, Hawkeye. During a Q+A panel at Silicon Valley Comic Con, Clint Barton’s portrayer was asked about the possibility. This was his response.
“I think that’s actually a really great model, if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it. Not up to me, though.”
Sounds like he’s sending a clear signal to Marvel Studios suits that he’d be interested in the opportunity. He sounded even more enthusiastic, though, when asked if he’s on board for a joint Hawkeye – Black Widow film.
“In a second. I’d love to do that,” he responded to a fan’s query on the subject.
This might be an even more viable option. For Marvel’s part, it would bring in fans of both characters, ensuring a higher gross. And for fans, it would be an opportunity to finally get the full backstory on the pair of assassins-turned-heroes. Their chemistry is off the charts – and, let’s face it, we’re all dying to know what the hell happened in Budapest.
Which do you think would be the better option for Hawkeye? And how would you like to see his adventures tie in with the cinematic universe? Let us know in the comments!
