DC is continuing their own cinematic universe, and TheWrap reports that Wonder Woman writer Jason Fuchs is penning a new Lobo movie to help expand it.
The movie was in development back in 2012, but Jason Fuchs is writing an entirely new script from scratch and it’s not known if director Brad Peyton, who was attached to the original project, will be returning. Per the report:
Insiders suggest that Fuchs will start from scratch with his own take on Lobo — an alien who works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. The character became a popular figure among fans of DC comic books following his revival in the early ’90s as a biker anti-hero.
Lobo is an intergalactic space biker and bounty hunter, and it’s likely Deadpool’s success had some kind of influence on the film’s development. He’s one of DC Comics’ most popular anti-heroes, and has definitely been long overdue for a film at this point. With the success of the previously mentioned R-Rated Deadpool film, it’s likely that Warner Bros. don’t view it as as much of a risk as they may have in the past.
As with everything, only time will tell, but here’s hoping we get a comic faithful adaptation of the character sometime in the near future. It’s definitely a great time to be alive if you’re a fan of comic books.
