From what we have seen from the Netflix corner of the MCU so far, it appears to take a much more grounded approach to the world of superpowers, but where does that leave the soon-to-be fourth member of the defenders, Iron Fist. With the character steeped in magic and mysticism, how will he fit in with the realistic image they have created? Marvel’s Joe Quesada has an answer.
Speaking to the website, Decider, Quesada explained:
“It still takes place in the same world. I think the Danny Rand character himself will have a different perspective on the world than some of the characters that you’re seeing now — as will Luke Cage. I mean you guys haven’t seen that show yet, either,’ before going on to add ‘Our goal is to provide four different shows that each have their own feel while, again, feeling like they are a part of a whole. Not an easy task, but I can tell you that our team is really fantastic at doing this. It’s still the early stages of Iron Fist so I’m a little hesitant to say too much more than that. But Danny Rand is a completely different character and the world that he comes from, how he obtained his powers and his skills — all completely different. I think fans will be pleased.”
It’s good to see that they are staying true to the characters mythical origins as early reports pegged this as being the hurdle that nearly forced Netflix to consider cancelling the series. Hopefully we’ll see just what the character will bring to the universe when the show hits next year or perhaps sooner if the rumoured appearance in Luke Cage is true.
What do you think? Are you glad they are staying true to the character? Do you think we’ll see him battle a dragon to gain his powers? Let us know below!
