In a move which is likely to surprise very few people, Fox looks to have dropped the film adaption Gambit from it’s upcoming slate of films whilst also adding a few mystery movies.
The Twitter accounted BoxOffice today reported that the Channing Tatum starring film would not only be missing its October 2016 release date but intact currently does not have a release date. The film was due to begin filming back in November 2015 but with original director Rupert Wyatt dropping out, the filming was pushed back to next month with Edge of Tomorrow director, Doug Liman in final negotiations to take the helm.
While the news that everybody’s favourite Cajun wouldn’t be on our screen this year is likely to disappoint, the site also revealed that announcement that Fox has announced release dates for not one, but two new untitled Marvel films which will be arriving in theatres, October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018.
It is entirely possible that the October 2017 release will in fact be Gambit but there is also a chance that this could be sequel to this years hit Deadpool or even the Jeff Wadlow directed X-Force movies. Given the success of the Deadpool character, Fox would definitely be looking to capitalise on the character as soon as they can.
