J.J. Abrams Says That Gay Characters Will Be Featured In Future STAR WARS Films

    By Frank PalmerFebruary 27, 2016

Though Star Wars: Episode VIII and Episode IX won’t be directed by JJ Abrams, he will still be an executive producer and a key member of the films going forward. The Force Awakens was universally praised for having diversity from all angles – except one.

    The LGBT community.

Well, Abrams was asked if the upcoming films would have more gay characters and here’s what he said:

“Of course!  When I talk about inclusivity it’s not excluding gay characters. It’s about inclusivity. So of course.  To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility.  So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say that there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world. “
