Last year, Kevin Smith created a big splash, announcing a reunion of the original cast mates for his upcoming Mallrats sequel. It was enough to get up every morning to know that he would be announcing a new return (Jason Lee, Stan Lee, Micheal Rooker, Shannon Doherty, etc). Though no date slated yet, the anxiety for the return of Jay and Silent Bob is unbearable. We last saw the “hetero-life-mates” in live-action in 2006’s Clerks 2. Since then, they’ve only showed up in animated form.
But it looks like we don’t have to wait until Mallbrats or Clerks 3. Smith took to Facebook to announce the filming of his next flick, Moose Jaws. The final installment in his self-proclaimed “True North Trilogy,” Moose Jaws will be the first to actually film in Canada. The True North Trilogy consists of Tusk, starring Justin Long as a reporter who’s kidnapped and is slowly turned into a walrus, and Yoga Hosers, starring Smith’s and Johnny Depp’s daughters as…..clerks.
“It’s very simply #Jaws but with a moose instead of a shark,” says Smith. “This is probably the stupidest of all three of my #MidlifeCrisisMovies and also my favorite script I’ve ever written……Before you leave this world, find a way to make all your dopey dreams come true, Kids (so long as it doesn’t physically hurt anybody) – otherwise, what are you doing with all that limited time you’ve been given? Dream big and dream stupid (the stupid ones are the most fun to dream and, ironically, the easiest to make real).”
My heart skipped a beat when I read, “#MooseJaws features the cinematic return of @jayandsilentbob! It’s a mashup of my movies as the ol’ #Askewniverse meets the #SMuniverse (the #SModcast universe)”
The announcement of the Mallrats and Clerks sequels were one thing. But now I just can’t contain my excitement, as my favorite dynamic duo will return to live-action even sooner.
