It’s been a tumultuous couple years for everyone’s favorite psychotic-killer-brother-with-William-Shatner’s-face. Rob Zombie directed a reboot of the Halloween series in the form of two very decisive films, and a planned third film in the series never materialized. Then, Dimension Films lost the rights to the franchise, leaving it in a state of cinematic limbo. However, Micheal Myers may have found a new home away from the big screen.
Fangoria, via an anonymous source involved, reports that Halloween may be developed as a limited series event for television that would last only a few seasons. The idea is that it’s been too long since 2009’s Halloween II to continue the story, so rebooting the franchise for a new generation on television seemed like the way to go. In a world with television series based on Hannibal, Scream, and From Dusk till Dawn, it isn’t hard to imagine Michael Myers slashing his way on to the small screen.
While a limited event series for Halloween does sound interesting, it is still very much in the early stages of discussion, says Fangoria’s source, and that nothing is close to being finalized.
