Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice tie-in book, Guide to the Caped Crusader/Guide to the Man of Steel: Movie Flip Book features a look at the world of the movie. Notably, it showcases the Batmobile, its armory, and garage.
“To keep Batman’s identity a secret, Bruce and Alfred had to build everything in the Batcave by themselves. With Bruce’s fortune, they have easy access to the most high-tech tools and materials, but some things had to be learned by trial and error. By now they’ve had many years to figure out what works and what doesn’t, so many items in the cave show signs of having been repaired and improved over time.”
You may remember Morgan Freeman’s character in the Dark Knight Trilogy. Lucius Fox was the man behind the Bat’s gadgets, even that Tumbler. In the ’90’s animated series, Bruce hired him to work on the Batmobile. On Gotham it looks like Fox will repair Thomas’s old computer that Alfred foolishly destroyed. But if Bruce and Alfred built all those in the DC Extended Universe, then they’d have no need for a Lucius.
Fox also ran Wayne Enterprises so that its CEO could focus on his extra curricular activities. “Lucius is responsible for handling the day-to-day operations of the giant company. A magna cum laude graduate of the Morton Business School, Lucius is nevertheless unaware of Bruce Wayne’s secret identity as Batman,” reads The DC Comics Encyclopedia. Though it looks like the Bruce in this movie has that under control, as well.
Ben Affleck’s Wayne, well into his life as a vigilante and a businessman, looks like he got along rather well without Lucius. But if Mr. Fox was cast, who would you think could take the mantel from Chris Chalk, that Morgan Freeman once held?
