Hugh Jackman is known for playing Wolverine – a role he’s kept for sixteen years now. But it seems like his time is coming to an end, because in 2017 the new Wolverine movie is cited be his last appearance as the character.
And, as expected, many are wondering if the role will be recast. This includes director Bryan Singer and writer Simon Kinberg who both told Digital Spy that the role would be impossible to recast. Kinberg had this to say:
“I do think you would want to figure out how to tell more Wolverine stories. So either we would try to entice Hugh to come back and eat more chicken and work out for a few months, or we would have to figure out a creative way to move forward. Honestly, I can’t imagine anybody else playing the part, and there’s not too many characters I can say that for.”
It seems like it’ll be a hard time for Wolverine and X-Men fans, but if Hollywood has taught us anything – we will one day see Wolverine return to the big screen. It’s just a matter of who’s playing him and whether or not it’s for the better.
