Over the course of his long comic history, Batman has always had a code of ‘No Killing’, which has always been translated into his live action counterparts. However – it sounds like that may be about to change in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, the film’s producer Charles Roven revealed:
“Batman is not giving people a chance… He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner.”
While this could be seen as Roven merely exaggerating, his follow up statement seems to further enforce the Dark Knight’s more aggressive style. The magazine goes on to say he’s older and that he’s seen the worst of what man can do. He’s been darkened by it, he’s tougher, he’s angrier, I guess.
From the clips we’ve seen so far have highlighted Batman’s more intense punishment for criminals, which is what spurs Superman taking action against Gotham’s protector and of course we can’t forget that Batman is looking to stop Superman from being a threat to humanity by any means necessary. We’ll find out if these comments are true when the film is released March 25th.
