Tony Masters aka Taskmaster has been the thorn in the side of Deadpool, so it would make sense that we would one day see the adversaries go toe to toe on the big screen. Well, unfortunately, we may not be seeing the clash anytime soon.
Sources for the website Comicbook.com are reporting that the live action rights to the character are now in the hands are Marvel, and have been since the time that the Daredevil rights reverted.
This revelation is supported by a comment that Deadpool director Tim Miller made:
“I’d love to see Deadpool fight Batman – no, I’m just kidding, that’s not even in the Marvel family! I’d love to see Deadpool go up against Taskmaster who’s another Marvel total fuckin’ badass. But if I was to stay inside the Fox family, I would like to see him fight X-23, the female Wolverine. The female clone of Wolverine.”
The fact that he refers to Taskmaster as being out of the ‘Fox Family’ does seem to imply that he isn’t with the studio, and the fact that Marvel appear to have negotiated for the character sounds like they may have a plan in mind for the character. A future season of Daredevil maybe?
What do you think? Are you glad the character is back with Marvel? Or would have like to see him take on the Merc with a mouth? Let us know below!
