With Star Wars: The Force Awakens making some serious money this past week, a lot of people are asking whether it will make more money than James Cameron’s Sci-Fi epic Avatar. Perhaps that is why James Cameron has spoken out about the long awaited sequel, Avatar 2.
Speaking to the Montreal Gazzette, The Terminator director revealed when we can expect to return to Pandora:
“Christmas of 2017 is the target [release date]. At least, that’s what we’ve announced’ before going onto explain ‘The writing is ongoing, but almost finished, We have design more or less finished. All the creatures and the landscapes, and the worlds within the world of Pandora that you see. Technical development is done. Stages are done. Infrastructure.”
It certainly sounds like it’s beginning to take shape.
The sequel is intended to be the first of three, which will be filmed back to back and released on consecutive years. Much of the original cast is expected to return. It was originally intended for release back in 2014 but was pushed back – something which hopefully won’t happen again.
