Good News, fellow Star Wars fans! It has been officially announced that Star Wars Rebels team will continue feature the fight for freedom well into a third season.
Programming and General Manager of Disney XD Marc Buhaj announced earlier today that Star Wars Rebels has been renewed and its third season shall debut in 2016. He stated the following:
“We are proud to bring our audience a third season of Star Wars Rebels, a series that has resonated across generations.”
Star Wars Rebels might have started out a bit slow, but it showed potential. Created by the same talent who brought us The Clone Wars, the show follows a Rebel cell 5 years before A New Hope, led in part by a former Jedi Padawan named Kanan Jarrus, who survived Order 66 and is now training the young thief Ezra Bridger in the force, and joined by Twi’Lek pilot Hera Syndulla, the mandalorian graffiti artist Sabine Wren, the Lasat Honor Guard Zeb, the ornery astromech Chopper (C1-10P ) aboard The Ghost.
Throughout Season 1, the show became more intense and the quality grew until its first season drew to a spectacular finish. Season 2 started with an explosive opening, and since then has managed to deliver quality and entertaining episodes. Some Clone Wars characters such as Ahsoka Tano, Hondo Ohnaka, and Captain Rex have made appearances, as well as original trilogy characters like Lando Calrissian, C-3PO, and even Darth Vader, all voiced by their original actors.
Some critics say this show is just for kids, but Star Wars has always been kid friendly, and this show still maintains dark elements, such as killing (via assassination, decapitation, etc.) and the heroes at times barely escape with their lives. If you have not started watching already, I highly recommend you start now, with the first episode of season 2 if possible (Or if you have the time start with the entire first season).
