Jason Momoa, who will soon be making a splash as Aquaman, has revealed where the inspiration for his take on the character will come from. Speaking at Dallas Comic Con, the Game of Thrones actor revealed that he had read Geoff Johns’ run as preparation for the King of Atlantis. Here’s what he said:
“There’s not really a lot I can give away, but the research of I’ve done on the New 52 stuff with Geoff Johns, and just researching who he is, he’s amazing.”
He described the characters Strength and Toughness as the reason for his excitement at playing the character. But interestingly he also let slip that Warner Bros has a “big beautiful map” of the DCEU which unfortunately he couldn’t share.
A description of the New 52 Aquaman:
Arthur Curry is Aquaman, an adventurer who is half-human and half-Atlantean. This gives him a variety of powers including superhuman strength, telepathic control over marine life, and the ability to survive both in water and on land. He belongs to the royal family of Atlantis, and normally acts as their King. His romantic partner is the princess Mera of Xebel. He is a founding member of two superhero teams, the world-famous Justice League and the clandestine Others.
It sounds like both DC and Momoa are prepared for the future of the character, and with Johns’ run being used for the inspiration, it sounds like we should be in for a great time.
