An unnamed source “close to the situation” has informed us that there is an infinity stone located in Wakanda and that it will definitely be mentioned in Civil War.
Now, I’d advise you all to take this news with a grain of salt, but – it actually makes a lot of sense. Here’s why:
The MCU films have already shown us four out of the six stones. So let’s recap:
The Tesseract (Space Stone)
Blue in color, allows space to be moved and warped. Currently under lock and key in Asgard. (though admittedly that does mean it’s controlled by Loki….)
The Sceptre (Mind Stone)
Yellow in color, allows the user to control and manipulate the thoughts of others. Currently embedded in the Vision’s forehead, which is bad news for The Vision.
The Aether (Reality Stone)
Red in color, allows the manipulation of energy, to grant god-like powers. Currently in possession of cosmic weasel The Collector.
The Orb (Power Stone)
Purple in color, grants the user the ability to wipe civilizations off the map. Currently entrusted to the Nova Corps for protection. (Which pretty much guarantees they’ll be exterminated by Thanos, save for the remaining Nova…)
This therefore leaves us with two stones remaining:
Soul Stone
Green in color. Arguably the most powerful of the stones, this corrupt and sentient gem hungers for the souls of other beings, to make it stronger.
Time Stone
Orange in color. Allows time travel and control over the past/present/future. Can de-age the wearer, and trap other within eternal time loops.
Now let’s look at the running order for the revised Phase 3 slate, leading up to the Infinity War:
Cap 3 – Civil war
Doc strange
Guardians Of The Galaxy 2
Spider man Reboot
Thor 3 -Ragnarok
Black Panther
– Barring a cameo, they’re unlikely to feature in Civil War, which will be concentrating on the conflicts between Team Cap and Team Tony.
– They’re unlikely to feature in a new Spider-Man film, which will be focusing on Peter Parker and his developing surroundings.
It’s possible they may feature in Guardians 2, and Thor 3, but my money’s on them being integral to the remaining two films in the list.
A green colored, sentient, soul taking gem? I’ll wager we’ll be seeing that under the watchful eye of the Ancient One, up a mountain somewhere in the Himalayas, waiting to be revealed to Benedict Cumberbatch.
And an orange stone that gives the ability to prolong life, allow time travel and cause enemies to vanish from time and space? Well, how do you think the Wakandans have managed to stay off the grid, away from the rest of the world for so long? Wouldn’t that explain their futuristic technology, and the fact their city is masked just outside of our time loop, maybe seconds in the past or future? If so, we’ll be seeing it in that cameo in Civil War, or a big reveal in Black Panther.
