Ant-man was screened for critics on Thursday night, and while it seems that official reviews are still forthcoming, they were allowed to tweet their initial reactions, which all seemed positive.
So we’ll get the first mention of Spider-Man, and some great mid and post credit stings teasing a future Marvel movie. Age of Ultron only had 1 mid-credit sting, which was a change from more recent Marvel outings, but they’ve moved back up to two for this latest outing.
The early opinions are a great sign, as the film had some troubles in production, with Edgar Wright leaving last year after being linked to direct the project for several years. That left the way open for Peyton Reed, who seemed like a left field choice at the time, but it appears that it has worked out quite well, given the early praise the film is receiving.
The film is being compared to Oceans Eleven, which isn’t surprising given that it’s a heist film and Michael Peña is receiving a lot of praise for his comic turn in this film. He’s not been shown very much in the marketing for the film, and it sounds like they made the right choice.
The rest of us will get to see Ant-Man when it’s out in cinemas on July 17th!
