Chris Evans is currently busy shooting the third Captain America film, but managed to find the time to congratulate Holland on his new role:
Of course, Evans is a seasoned Marvel veteran, having starred in four films as Steve Rogers aka Captain America, and is in the midst of the fifth. Holland, who was recently announced as the newest Spiderman, is scheduled to appear in the film, as confirmed by Kevin Feige, though how much screen time the 19-year-old Brit will have remains to be seen.
Holland was up against several other actors, including Asa Butterfield, Charlie Plummer, Judah Lewis and Matthew Lintz, and it came down to him and Charlie Rowe. Both Evans and Robert Downey Jr were involved in chemistry tests with the hopefuls, as Spiderman and Iron Man apparently share some scenes in Civil War.
Rumors have also been flying since April about Spiderman’s next solo film in 2017, possibly named Spiderman: The New Avenger and that Downey Jr would have a role in that.
But first, Holland will be seen in Captain America: Civil War, joining returning Marvel actors Paul Bettany, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Frank Grillo, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle.
Captain America: Civil War is due out in May 2016.
