The DCEU has been building their bridges with their expanded universe, and slowly but surely are trying to reach the same stage as Marvel has with letting their big baddie out of the cage.
While reports state that the main villain of the upcoming Justice League film will be Steppenwolf (the same fellow from the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’s Extended Cut seen with Lex Luthor and his “communion”), we all know that DC is building up to his boss, the Tyrant of Apokolips Darkseid. “How soon?” is the question that remains.
Darkseid made his presence known in the BVS film with Bruce’s dream sequences and his insignia, and while unseen, the foreshadowing of his existence is one not to mess with. With this next step from the shadows, we may see a greater fear of the tyrant much sooner that we thought.
The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez spoke in a live video the latest scoop, and it looks like he may have a spot in the DC team-up:
“You see him and you feel his presence, but you don’t hear him talk.”
However, he also clarified that his live video chats are:
“speculation and inside baseball.”
If that may be the case, looks like there will be more mirroring with Marvel’s The Avengers with this one, adding in the post-credits scene of the silent Thanos as reference. Now with two villainous titans in the two biggest respective comic book universes making their time for the silver screen, things are bound to get serious.
Justice League assembles November 17th, 2017.
