Nicolas Cage is no stranger to superhero films. Well, superheroes in general, really.
His name is actually Nicolas Coppola, but changed his acting name to Nicolas ‘Cage’ because he was a huge fan of Luke Cage and didn’t want to be in the shadow of his family, which featured high profile names like Francis Ford Coppola.
He also starred in two Ghost Rider films as Johnny Blaze that weren’t very good. There’s really no other way to put it.
Before Ghost Rider, he was cast as Superman in the Tim Burton film that never actually happened. In case you were unaware, here’s what that would have looked like:
After looking at that picture, you’re probably thinking that it was a good thing the film never happened. The fact, however, is that Cage was not only the Superman that the 90’s needed – he was the one the 90’s deserved.
In a recent interview with Collider promoting his new film ‘Army of One’, Cage was asked what he thought of films like Batman v Superman and Marvel films, and here’s what he had to say:
“I thought Civil War was excellent. I though Batman v Superman was excellent. I though Will Smith was great in Suicide Squad. I think that the genre is in good shape.”
Army of One will is currently on Digital HD, and on home video and on demand on November 15.
