In the world of big screen adaptions of comic books, no writer has had more success than Mark Millar with Wanted, Kick-Ass and Kingsman all being adapted. Even his classic Marvel arcs Old Man Logan and Civil War also enjoy being loosely adapted. This trend looks set to continue with the adaption of his comic series Superior, set to be the next in line for the Hollywood treatment. It now looks as though the film may have found its lead, straight from the main man himself.
A recent tweet from Millar revealed that, whilst watching the Amy Schumer film, Trainwreck, he was so impressed with the performance of WWE star John Cena that he could easily see him in the title role of Superior. You can check out the tweet below.
Just watched @amyschumer'sTrainwreck & it's my fave comedy in YEARS. @JohnCena so funny in it I literally just requested him for SUPERIOR.

The seven issue series from Icon Comics focuses on Simon Pooni, a young boy afflicted with multiple sclerosis who is granted a wish by an alien monkey to become his hero, Superior. This all changes when he discovers that the Alien is in fact a demon, who will only allow Simon to keep his powers if he can claim his soul.
Cena definitely has build and looks to play the Superman-like character and the fact that he is possibly one of the most popular WWE stars at the time should certainly win him favor with producers.
The rights to the film was picked up by Fox and is set to be produced by frequent collaborator Matthew Vaughan and written by Brandon and Phillip Murphy. There is currently no release date set.
